Colchester skipper Luke Prosser has signed a two-year contract extension, the club has announced.
The 30-year-old defender returned from injury in January to play a key role in the U’s Sky Bet League Two campaign, which saw them finish mid-table.
“The 30-year-old has penned a new two-year deal to continue to be a U’s player ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
He returned to the team’s starting XI in January 2018 after a spell out with injury and immediately showed his importance to the team with a string of impressive displays at the heart of the defence.
“His leadership qualities on and off the pitch have proven key in his time at the club so far and he will now spend a further two years in the blue and white stripes. Luke’s contract will be confirmed subject to paperwork clearance.”
