Clattenburg reveals the most difficult player he refereed

Mark Clattenburg has revealed Craig Bellamy was the most difficult player to referee during his Premier League career. Clattenburg, 43, left the Premier League to take up a role with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation. He spent 13 years as a top flight official and also took charge of the EURO 2016 final and Champions league that same year.

Clattenburg even once asked the City bench how they manage to work with the striker, such was his character.

“I was just being honest! Bellamy was the hardest player I ever had to referee — he always had a bloody answer,” he told the Daily Mail.

 

Bellamy who is from Wales had spells with Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester City among others
