As football’s biggest game event edges ever closer to Kickoff in Russia, we get you in the mood by looking at players who have written themselves in the World Cup record books.

Cafu

The Brazilian right back is the only player in World Cup history to play in three consective world Cup Final Matches. Cafu came on as a substitute as Brazil beat Italy to win the 1994 final in USA. He also played as Brazil lost the final four years later to France in 1998 and captained the side that won the 5th Brazilian World Cup in 2002.

Miroslav Klose

The German is the all time leading World Cup goalscorer  with sixteen strikes scored across four editions from 2002 to 2014.

Pele

Often regarded as the best player in World Cup history, Pele holds the record as the youngest player to play in a World Cup final match. He was 17 years and 249 days old when he faced Sweden in the 1958 final which Brazil won and as all legends do, he scored the winning goal.
