Wayne Rooney will be told he is not wanted at Everton.
New manager Marco Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands made that clear on Monday, as the pair got down to business on their first day at work with the Blues.Silva flew in from Portugal to be unveiled as the new boss by Brands, and the pair admitted they are still to meet or speak with the Goodison icon, even though he’s been deep in talks with MLS side DC United.
Brands revealed that Everton already have an agreement with the Washington club to sell Rooney, and made clear the two new men will not try to reverse the decision.
Asked if Everton had agreed to sell, Brands said: “What I understand, yes, but it is up to Wayne of course. The clubs are close to having an agreement.”
