Low explains Sane omission

In what was undoubtedly the shock of the week, German Coach Joachim Low left out Manchester City Star Leroy Sane from the final German World Squad. In Sane’s place is Bayern Leverkusen youngster Julian Brandt despite the former not having a better season than Sane. The German coach has however come out to defend his decision.

“You have to look at the big picture so we have a variable and well-balanced team prepared for all eventualities. We have good players on the wing in Thomas Muller and Marco Reus. Julian Draxler played a good Confed Cup, and made progress there. It was a tight race between Leroy Sane and Julian Brandt. Both have big qualities, both are good in the one-on-one duels,” explained Löw.

Brandt played in last year’s confederations cup while Sane missed due to a nose surgery.
