Newly appointed Fleetwood manager Joey Barton has been tipped to become a better manager than premier league legends Stephen Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
Speaking at the unveiling of the controversial former Newcastle and QPR midfielder, Fleetwood owner Andy Pilley was full of praise for his new manager.
”His drive and energy levels are virtually second to anybody I’ve ever met.I think his enthusiasm will be infectious with the players and with the team around him.He is a very intelligent person, an excellent communicator and I am glad to have got him. He was the man I wanted, he said.
Pilley was then asked a question on whether he would replace Barton with either Gerrard or Lampard to which he replied;
“I wouldn’t swap him for either of those two (Lampard and Gerrard), although they are top players and will be hugely successful managers. Joey is the man we wanted and when the news leaked out in April that this was going to happen, clearly we had already made our decision, so perhaps we are trend setters in that respect.”
