Arsenal sign Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus

Arsenal have signed Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Italian champions Juventus on a free transfer, the Premier League club said on Tuesday. The 34-year-old showed up for Juve, winning the Serie A title in every one of his seven seasons at the club. He was named skipper of Switzerland in 2016 and has earned 99 tops for his nation.

He is new Arsenal head mentor Unai Emery`s first marking since assuming control from Arsene Wenger a month ago.

“Stephan conveys immense experience and initiative to our squad. He`s a player with awesome quality with an exceptionally positive and decided demeanor. Stephan will enhance us on and off the pitch,” Emery said in an announcement.

Lichtsteiner started his senior vocation at Swiss club Grasshoppers Zurich in 2001 and played for Lille in France, and also Lazio in Italy before joining Juventus in 2011
