No one could see it coming, not even the most daring person would have predicted the omission of Leroy Sane from Germany’s final World cup squad.
The former Schalke Proteje was involved in 29 goals in 49 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s title winning Manchester City. Sane also bagged the PFA young English Premier League player of the year for his efforts in the Citizen’s title clinching season.
Despite his lack of international experience, Sane’s numbers should have booked him a place on the German plane to Russia.
