Scouts in Turkey to watch Unai Emery’s first potential signing

The Spaniard has been quick to ensure his staff in north London are working to land his requested transfer targets before the start of the season.

Arsenal have already been linked with moves for Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Caglar Soyuncu in recent weeks.

But according to Turkish-Football, it is the latter’s countryman Yusuf Yazici that Emery desperately wants to sign this summer.

The Trabzonspor attacking midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal under Wenger.

But the Turkish publication claims scouts have been to watch Yazici’s two international games this week.

The 21-year-old played a part against both Iran and Tunisia, where Turkey won 2-1 and drew 2-2 respectively.

And Trabzonspor have splashed a £17.5m price tag on the starlet.

However, club president Ahmet Agaoglu would prefer to keep Yazici for at least another year.

Speaking recently, agent Erkut Sogut confirmed that there had been significant interest from England.

“He was born in born in 1997, he was selected among UEFA’s 50 most promising players. He is ahead of Cengiz Under, half of Europe is interested in Yusuf,” he said.

“He is the most promising youngster in Turkey, he scored 10 goals in the league this season.

“His technique is brilliant, we have offers from Italy, from the Premier League, from Germany and Spain.”
