Nigeria might not exactly be favourites to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but it is their kit that has the world talking. The funky jersey has caught the public’s imagination, with 3 million replica shirt being sold on Friday on pre-order, alone in 15 minutes.
Long queues could be seen outside Nike’s (the jersey’s manufacturers) flagship store in London, with even the jersey being sold out online on their website. The makers have come out say that the jersey was a “subtle homage to Nigeria’s ’94 shirt, with its eagle wing-inspired black-and-white sleeve and green torso.”
