Real Madrid have ended their interest in prising Mauricio Pochettino away from Tottenham Hotspur. Pochettino had recently signed a new contract worth £42.5m to stay at Spurs for five years, Real were always going to find it difficult to negotiate with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, according to Guillem Balague.
“What they had in front of them was the possibility of negotiating with Daniel Levy for perhaps a month, even longer, with no guarantees whatsoever that they were going to get him,” Balague said.
“They know that Levy is a very tough negotiator, with Florentino [Perez] having been in touch with him in recent seasons. They’ve decided to abandon the possibility of signing Mauricio Pochettino.”
