Christian Benteke says he realises that big clubs are unlikely to come calling for him after a difficult season at Crystal Palace. The Belgian international scored just three goals in his second season in south London, having scored 17 goals in all competitions in his first campaign with the Eagles.
“I realise that the big clubs now are not going to call,” Benteke told Belgian publication Het Belang van Limburg.
With speculation surrounding his future rife at the moment, the former Aston villa and Liverpool striker is determined to stay at the club and do better next season though he would consider his options, if a big club was to come in for him.
” It’s very human that you as a footballer are always going to listen when a great club come calling for you. You then need to consider.”
Benteke is part of the Belgium squad that will take on Portugal on Saturday night and will hope to impress coach Robert Martinez to warrant a place in the final 23 that will go to Russia next week.
