Mohamed Salah to play World Cup despite injury? Let’s find out

Mohamed Salah could still play a role for Egypt at the World Cup after the Egyptian Football Association announced Wednesday that the injured Liverpool striker would be out for “not more” than three weeks.

The forward was injured in Saturday’s Champions League final having tangled with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos before landing heavily on the turf. To add insult to injury his team Liverpool went on to lose the match 3-1.

After the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp told reporters he felt the Premier League Golden Boot winner may struggle to recover in time for the tournament, but Salah later tweeted to say he was “confident” of being ready.

On Wednesday, the EFA issued a statement detailing how its president Hani Abu Reda, head coach Hector Cuper and national team doctor Mohamed Abu El-Ela travelled to Valencia to observe Salah’s treatment and rehabilitation in the Spanish city.
