Young Wary of racism ahead of world cup

England international Ashley Young has expressed his concerns over racism as the World Cup nears.

However, the Manchester United midfielder turned defender has admitted that he is not sure of how he would react to racist abuse in the 2018 global event.

“Whether it’s going to happen, whether you are on the pitch, I’m not sure how you react to it,” Young said.

That notwithstanding, Young is confident that FIFA will be in a position to handle incidents of racism in case there is any.

There have been a number of racist abuse incidents in Russian football in the past, with the most recent one being during a friendly against France in March which saw the Russian Football Union fined heftily by FIFA.

Young has been capped 33 times and has scored 7 goals for the Three Lions
