English Premier League champions Manchester City is keen to tie  Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane down by offering them a long-term contract.

Sane, who is a starter for Germany in Russia this summer has three years left in his contract and City feel that the Germany international is deserving a new deal after his performances last season saw him voted as PFA Young Player of the Year. On the other hand, City had hoped to agree on new deals for the pair worth in the region of £90,000-a-week but Jesus rejected the club’s offer, while Sane’s team indicated their client deserved more.

While the club fear the duo’s representatives are purposely delaying contract talks until after the World Cup, there is also an acceptance that their current proposals aren’t nearly enough to tie the pair down to new long-term deals.

City are wary that the pair’s negotiating position will be significantly strengthened by a successful tournament in Russia and the club are now willing to offer the pair in excess of £120,000-a-week to convince them to pen deals now.
