Roberto Firmino has joined up with the Brazil squad early ahead of the World Cup.

The Liverpool star was given some extra days off following the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

Firmino wasn’t expected to join up with the rest of the squad until later this week but arrived on Monday, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The Liverpool forward enjoyed an incredible season for the Reds, scoring 27 goals in all competitions and registering 17 assists – but he isn’t prepared to rest on his laurels as he battles for a place in Brazil’s starting line-up.

Firmino will do battle with Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus to be the first choice striker for Brazil boss Tite.
