FA to confirm Premier League’s winter break

The Football Association is set to confirm details of a winter break in the premier league that will start in the 2019-2020 season.

This follows a confirmation by the FA’s chief executive Martin Glenn to FA councillors that a two-week break will be implemented.

The break for Premier League teams will be staggered over two weekends, with 10 teams playing one weekend and the other 10 the next weekend, allowing every club a two-week break from competition.

The agreement with the Premier League, which is likely to be signed off soon, will mark the end of more than a decade of debate over giving top players recuperation time after the busy Christmas schedule.
