Barnsley FC have expressed interest in having Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth to fill their managerial vacancy.
This comes a few days after The Tykes dismissed their former head coach Jose Morais on the final day of the season after he failed to keep them in the Championship.
According to reports, the club have renewed their interest in Ainsworth, who was previously linked with the club when Paul Heckingbottom left to join Leeds United earlier this year.
He is said to have impressed the Yorkshire outfit’s hierarchy by guiding Wycombe to promotion from League Two on a limited budget.
The report suggests that Ainsworth is a strong candidate for the position, despite former Barnsley player Grant McCann having been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite for the role.
