Here’s Why Liverpool Should Trust Loris Karius despite poor show in Champions League final

The big games are often dictated by mistakes. It’s a cliche because it’s true. In the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev, it was Loris Karius who contributed more proof to that notion.

The German goalkeeper committed not one but two blunders on the night that proved to be the difference between Real Madrid and Liverpool. After throwing the ball straight into the path of Karim Benzema, he let in a rather cheap goal after failing to punch clear a Gareth Bale shot that was hit straight at him.

After the final, Karius and his family have been subjected to death threats and geez, some people need to calm down, man. Let’s take a look at 3 reasons why Liverpool should persist with Loris Karius.

1. Karius has a point to prove now, he will come back stronger

A player is the most dangerous when he has a point to prove. Take for example David de Gea of Manchester United. He was maligned and criticised in several quarters. But he put his head down and worked hard to put his past replete with skittish displays behind him and became the best goalkeeper in the world.

2.Karius has the quality and technique

Leave aside Champions League final’s poor show for instance, Karius pulled off quite a few magnificent saves this season. His performances against Bournemouth, Everton and West Bromwich Albion inspired confidence. It’s weirdly similar to David de Gea’s story though the Spaniard was much younger when he was susceptible to such errors.

United kept their faith in De Gea and it was a gamble at the time. Liverpool should do the same with Karius.
