Real Madrid boss Zidane in Chelsea transfer U-turn after Liverpool win

Reports in Spain have stated that Manchester United keeper David De Gea is being touted as a potential successor, as well as Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois. But according to Don Balon, a Spanish outlet famous for its outlandish transfer claims, Zidane has changed his mind about shipping out Navas.

The report suggests that a deal with Chelsea to bring in Courtois was nearing completion, with suggestions that the Belgian has stalled on a  contract extension at Stamford Bridge amid interest from Real. But Navas’ performance against Liverpool is believed to have convinced Zidane to stick by the stopper and utilise any transfer funds in improving other areas of the squad.

Los Blancos were predominant in Kiev, beating Jurgen Klopp’s side 3-1 as Gareth Bale stole the show with a dazzling substitute appearance.  Two of Real’s objectives came because of slip-ups by Liverpool manager Loris Karius, who had a night to overlook.

At the opposite end, Keylor Navas was imperious in objective for the La Liga monsters as Real secured their third back to back Champions League title. The Costa Rican’s Bernabeu future has been in question, with recommendations that Zidane is hoping to supplant him this late spring.
