Lambert rumoured to be joining St Mirren

St Mirren  have been report to be on the verge of having former Stoke City boss Paul Lambert next after Jack Ross.

This comes a few days after Ross left the club for Sunderland fresh on the back of guiding the club to the top tier of Scottish football.

According to reports, Lambert is a surprise name on the Buddies’ list of candidates following 12 years working in English football.

Lambert does have strong ties to the Paisley outfit, though, having skippered the club to the 1987 Scottish Cup during a seven-year spell in their senior ranks.

Chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick is said to have already held informal talks with the 48-year-old, who left Stoke by mutual consent earlier this month following their relegation to the Championship.
