Jose Mourinho made a concerted attempt to sign Neymar for Manchester United from FC Barcelona last summer, Duncan Castles has revealed.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move to sign the Brazil international in the 2017 summer transfer window to bolster Mourinho’s options.
“Jose tried really had to get Neymar last summer. He had a lot of conversations with the player,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.
“They were blown out of the water by PSG in terms of scale of salary. I am sure the interest remains.
“When Neymar went to Brazil after suffering his injury, the PSG chief executive flew out to Brazil to convince Neymar to stay at the club.
