Arsenal have been reported to be on the verge of signing centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos
The Borussia Dortmund Centre back is said to be the first signing in the Emery’s era despite late competition from rivals Manchester United.
According to reports, The gunners have offered £13m for Sokratis, before returning with an improved £16m bid that should be enough to wrap up the transfer.
Sokratis could arrive in the coming days, making him the third player from Dortmund to arrive at the Emirates Stadium since former BVB chief Sven Mislintat joined last year.
The report also suggests that Arsenal intend to bring in at least one more defensive player before the summer market closes for business.
