Manchester United have been reported to be pretty close to complete their first signing of the season which would see former Manchester City target Fred make the move to Old Trafford from Shakhtar Donetsk.
It was recently reported that Fred’s representatives have flown to England to continue working on a deal that could see the 25-year-old midfielder sign for the Red Devils for around £52m. The result of this move saw United drift away from their move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Speaking at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, as reported by Manchester Evening News, Fred said, “There have been some advanced talks since January, when I almost went to Man City. Soon after City, United talked to Shakhtar and my agents. And today, if I’m not mistaken, there is very strong interest from United.”
