Sunderland make purr-fect appointment as ex-Samson the Cat mascot Tony Davison joins new-look board

SUNDERLAND have made the purr-fect appointment to their board… Samson the Cat!

Fans on Wearside have been feline good since Stewart Donald’s takeover.

Samson the Cat – seen with fellow mascot Delilah is now the Sunderland managing director in his other guise as lifelong fan Tony Davison

And a fur-miliar face has now been brought back to the Stadium of Light as managing director.

Lifelong Sunderland supporter Tony Davison used to dress up as a cat in his role as club mascot before going on to have a successful marketing and commercial career.

And Donald has clawed Davison away from his senior role at Tottenham in what fans hope will be a paw-sitive move.

It adds real meow factor on the day Donald named Jack Ross as manager

New Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has acted quickly to bring back Samson the Cat in a top role

The 41-year-old – Scottish Manager of the Year award after guiding St Mirren to the Championship title – will earn £350,000 a year, FIVE times his salary in Scotland.

Ross has taken the job rather than wait to hear on his application for the Ipswich job.
