This was the first time since 1975 for teams in the UEFA Champions League to be forced into two changes within the first half as Liverpool lost Mohammed Salah and Real Madrid lost Daniel “Dani” Carvajal to injury in the ongoing final, currently at 0-0.
Salah and Carvajal were all tears as they was escorted into the dressing room within a period of 10 minutes apart, the former after a tackle from Sergio Ramos that saw him land awkwardly injuring his shoulder.
Real Madrid however still managed to dominate possession and eve had a goal denied in the dying minutes of the first half for an offside; this following a great build up play from Real Madrid, but Ronaldo was actually offside, he should have scored with the header anyway before Benzema put it in.
