Iniesta leaves Barcelona for a Japanese club

It is official Spanish midfielder Andres Iniesta will be joining Japanese outfit Vissel Kobe.

Iniesta who has been with Barcelona played his last game on Sunday against Real Sociedad. He has had  674 appearances in all competitions.

Initially the Spaniard was expected to move to the Chinese Super League, but Vissel Kobe have won the race for the 34-year-old, who will be unveiled to the Japanese media on Thursday.

Vissel Kobe happens to be   the chief executive of Japanese electronics company Rakuten, who are currently the shirt sponsors of Barcelona. Following an image posted on social media shows Iniesta alongside Mikitani revealing that he is ‘heading for his new home’.

Iniesta, who won 32 trophies in 16 years as part of the first team at Barcelona, will travel with the Spain squad to the 2018 World Cup.

Former Arsenal attacker Lucas Podolski is part of the squad at Vissel Kobe.
