Raheem Sterling joins England ahead of the World Cup

Raheem Sterling has joined England Manchester City  squad after being given extra time off by manager Gareth Southgate.

The 23-year-old Manchester United was due to arrive at St George’s Park at the start of the week, as the Three Lions begin their preparations for the upcoming World Cup finals in Russia.

Sterling was said to be absent terming his absence a private matter that had to be resolved.

He was pictured training at England’s base on Wednesday and will now remain part of the group going forward.

Gary Cahill, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have been given a week off due to their FA Cup exploits, while Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold – both in contention to start this weekend’s Champions League final – will join up next month.
