AFC Leopards will start their defence of the Shield against third-tier side Shabana FC. Leopards won the knock-out tournament last year after defeating Kariobangi Sharks 2-0 in the final. It will be keen to go all the way to add silverware to their trophy cabinet and they launch their quest on the weekend of June 1-3.

Sofapaka who had had a stellar run in the competition by winning three cups in 2007, 2010 and 2014 are going to attempt and win the Cup again when they start their hunt against one-time giants Reunion.
