Klinsmann ‘unlikely’ to manage in PL

Jurgen Klinsmann has revealed that it is unlikely he will return to the Premier League as a manager.

Klinsmann spent two seasons in the top flight of English football with Tottenham, where he scored 21 goals in 41 appearances.

As a manager, Klinsmann was in charge of the United States national team for five years, but he was sacked by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) in November 2016 after World Cup qualifying defeats to Mexico and Costa Rica.

He said: “In football you never know what happens overnight. I never thought I’d coach Bayern Munich or Germany or the United States, so you have to always be open to any sorts of ideas.

“But the fact is that living in the United States for 20 years having the family there, I have a daughter – she has two years more in high school.

“For us as a family as of today it’s more likely that I take over another national team possibly after the World Cup than going into club management.”

Last summer, Klinsmann was reportedly linked with the manager’s job at Sunderland after David Moyes resigned following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

He was also previously linked to the England manager’s job as a replacement for Sam Allardyce, after he left the role in September 2016.
