Manchester United Bench Lukaku for Chelsea game

Manchester United and Chelsea will compete for FA Cup glory at Wembley when the match kicks off later this evening.

The Red Devils are sweating on the fitness of Lukaku, with Jose Mourinho yesterday saying: “Anthony Martial is fit and Lukaku – we will have to wait till the last moment.

Lukaku will be fired up to down Chelsea, the club he rejected in favour of a move to Manchester United last summer.

But journalist Diego Martinez, who has worked for Marca and Mundo Deportivo in Spain, says the Belgian bulldozer will have to make do with a place on the bench.

He tweeted: “To end my news drop for the day Martial will start as the main striker against Chelsea with Lukaku on the bench ahead of the FA cup final.”

Lukaku has already scored against Chelsea this season, bagging in a 2-1 victory back in February.

But it appears the forward’s injury will cost him the chance to prove his worth from the start this afternoon.

For Martial, it could represent one last chance to save his United career.

Express Sport understands the France international could leave Old Trafford this summer, with Chelsea among the clubs interested in snapping him up.

The 22-year-old is yet to score since Alexis Sanchez signed in January.

But a stellar Wembley performance could yet convince Mourinho he is worthy of a United starting berth next term.
