Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore has been named the Corporate Executive of the Year at the inaugural East Africa Com Awards, despite the difficult year he has had battling with health issues.
Collymore, who has been out of office for the last eight months, was recognized at an event that celebrates achievements of the people and companies accelerating digital transformation in East Africa.
The award comes a few days after the company announced that Collymore would be returning to the helm of the organization taking over from Chief Financial Officer Sateesh Kamath who had taken up some of his roles.
His actual date of returning has not been disclosed although the company has noted that he is making good progress.
