Surprise inclusion in race to replace Arsene Wenger

French outlet 24matins this afternoon kicked out a fresh twist to the quest to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal including a new name to the list of candidates being considered as replacements at the North London club this summer.

Former Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona star Michael Laudrup is the man under the spotlight. The former Swansea City boss between 2012 and 2014 helped the club secure the Swans first-ever major silverware in England when he led the Welsh outfit to League Cup glory in 2013.

He is the current manager of Qatari outfit Al Rayyan, but, if 24matins are to be believed, then Laudrup could be on the move in the near future, with Arsenal said to be impressed by the managerial talents possessed by the Danish legend.

Wenger will be leaving Arsenal after 22 years at the club, with former Gunners captain Arteta said to be the front-runner for the post. Talks are reportedly due to be held between Arsenal and Arteta on Thursday, with Pep Guardiola having confirmed he will allow the Spaniard to leave City, should the 36-year-old be offered the job.
