How corruption has barred Kenyans from boarding Margaret’s Kenyatta’s movement

We are not boarding!!! These are the sentiments of some Kenyans in regard to the 2019 Beyond Zero Marathon.

Kenyans have given the reason why the are reluctant to support Margaret Kenyatta’s initiative that is aimed at supporting the nation in various sectors.

The Beyond Zero Initiative has used the Half Marathon as the anchor fundraising platform, raising funds and resources to bring to focus key challenges facing Kenyans and build strategic partnerships that will address these challenges.

Many have expressed their frustrations over the sorry state of the nation which has been burdened by corruption scandals.

The appeal made by some of the ambassadors of the event hit a dead end after Kenyans revealed they are not ready to offer their support.

This has resulted into a huge debate and concern considering that the nation is only counting days to the event (scheduled for 10th March)

Have a look at the reactions.

Running is a good way to keep fit but it’s hypocritical at this moment for the First Lady to ask us to run with her while her hubby and his friends run away with our taxes some of which were meant to alleviate the problems she hopes to solve with a marathon.— Chikate Swaleh (@Iam_aliswaleh) February 28, 2019

As you run, remember someone chewed billions to supply these containers that are now lying unused somewhere in Coast pic.twitter.com/SplzysR8r5— Vincent 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 (@VinceChepkwony) February 28, 2019

Why participate to enrich the few while people like Boniface murage can’t even afford hospital bill for the kid . What is purpose of beyond zero marathon anyway?? 🤔— Deputy Sherrif (@ital_john) February 27, 2019

Running that Marathon is encouraging corruption.

As long as you have paid Taxes and contributed for NHIF you have done your part. Marathons won’t cure this sick nation. https://t.co/B5udUvxMAI— Jacques (@Kvaati) February 15, 2019

If only the run was to ensure medics are adequately paid, facilities equipped, patient to medic ratio reduced and public health cover improved, I would have forced all my family members to participate and even supervise their participation.
