Guns down, Kenyans highlight the need of awareness in coverage by media

After the guns are put down, media personalities feel that there is a need for creating awareness over reporting during a terror attack.

Journalist, Mate Tongola says that there is much that goes on and the real discussion should be initiated.

Although the mainstream media did a great job, there seems to be a gap. Kenyans too need to be educated on the kind of reports they give during such tense moment.

The Dusit Attack is yet another lesson to Kenyans to preach hope and not fear or information that is based on speculations. Kenyans should begin to be more familiar with the emergency numbers.

A section of Kenyans complained that some bloggers rush to give information without the thought of the consequences.

We all have to realize that this is a question of humanity and not media ratings or who has the news first.

Media personalities set a good example as they were seen downing their tools to help save lives.

It is more beyond the story when lives are put to risk and it is at this point that the principle of the greater good should control your gut.

Some of the Dusit attack survivors and families of the victims narrated how difficult it was to sift through the content.

Distinguishing between facts and speculation at a time when all they wanted was to be reunited

This should be a learning point for us all as Kenyans.

Whatsoever crisis that may be.. think before you post…
