Love gone sour!!Legislature’s wife awarded restraining order following death threats

Milimani Commercial Court has awarded Meru Senator Franklin Mithika Linturi’s wife, Maryanne Jebet Kitany,a restraining order against the politician following allegations of domestic violence.

Senior Resident Magistrate I. Orenge granted an exclusive occupation of the couple’s shared residence to Ms. Kitany and barred Senator Linturi from loitering near the home or any other place where his wife frequents.

The Senator is also neither allowed to contact Ms Kitany unless allowed by the court nor threaten to damage any of her property.

“The Senator is restrained from physically or sexually abusing or threatening to abuse the applicant, the applicant’s staff, their six children and any other person associated with the applicant,” ruled Magistrate Orenge.

Linturi was also ordered to allow Ms Kitany to enter any other of his residences in the company of an enforcement officer for the purpose of collecting her personal belongings.

Pending hearing and determination of an application by Ms Kitany dated October 25, 2018, the interim order was also issued “restraining the respondent from intimidating, harassing, stalking and or engaging in any behavior which amounts to emotional, verbal or psychological abuse of the Applicant and or the six children.”

Earlier this month, detectives said they questioned Linturi after his Ms Keitany alleged he threatened to kill her during a domestic brawl in their Runda home, Nairobi.

Keitany, who is a licenced gun holder told police that Linturi, also a gunholder, threatened to shoot her during an argument.
