What do you remember retired president Mwai Kibaki for?
He was the third president of Kenya, serving from December 2002 until April 2013. Kibaki was previously Vice-President of Kenya for ten years from 1978 to 1988 under President Daniel Arap Moi.
Kenyans have taken to social media to explain what their memories are about his life, especially as a president. It was a mixture of some of the very humorous times and some other sad moments – during his stay at State House. Here are some reflections from Kenya….

Emilio Stanley Mwai Kibaki turns 87 today. He’s the guy who once plunged Kenya into a mini civil war, and the only sitting president to have interrupted normal broadcast to clarify that he has only one wife. Golf was his favourite sport, and White Cap his favourite beer. pic.twitter.com/ztkJDzw1UR
