There is only one Pricillah Biwott. The woman who breathes and eats athletics regardless of her age.

At 55, the mother of five can still make strides past many elite athletes in this country and emerge the winner in heated marathon races easily.

Earlier this week, she surprised many when she competed in the 21km race in Uasin Gishu County during the 2019 Kaptagat Forest Half Marathon.  She beat many athletes and finished alongside elites like Daniel Kemboi.

When Opera News caught up with the evidently fit lady-at her age, Pricillah mentioned passion and the urge to give back to the community as key pillars in her career.  She also revealed that she has been competing in athletic events for many years.

“I got into athletics at a tender age. I competed in marathon races in and out of the country but I decided to continue running even at my age, and till death, because I have a great passion for the sport. As an elderly lady, I have competed in many races including Family bank half-marathon and Safaricom Half marathon competitions,” she told Opera News.

She added; Sometimes I just run for a good course in the society. I run for anything that supports our community like the conservation of forests and things like that.”

Kaptagat Forest Marathon project manager Bernard Kemboi has lauded Priscillah and hinted at gifting her for her wonderful athletic spirit. “It is unbelievable to find such a woman in athletics, and we are very proud of her.  We have decided to award her further,” he said.
