Kwale County has not once been on the limelight over the poor state of schools and Bumani Primary School is the latest to cause public outrage.
Following an expose by a local TV, angry Kenyans took to social media using the hashtag #HardshipAcademy to condemn the county leadership over the extreme and unholy inequality.
Pictures circulating online shows A mud-walled grass-thatched classroom. The structure is shared by class 4 and 5 pupils.

As if that isnt enough, the same school does not have latrines. The mudwalled pit latrines built many years back are almost caving in forcing the teachers and pupils to use nearby bushes and thickets while responding to nature calls.

Bumaini primary teachers as well seem to be teaching the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) on guesswork. The school only has 8 teachers with only 2 who are trained. According to the school’s Deputy Headteacher Ali Mrema, class 1 to class 4 pupils are taught by one untrained form four leaver who will only get knowledge of the system by reading the pupils books.

Elsewhere in the county in Kinango Primary school, classes are undertaken under the three main trees in the compound, and as the sun moves, so do they.

Here is what Kenyans have to say on the poor state of the school;
56 years after attaining self rule. It's shameful to put our kids in such unfavorable conditions yet we want them to excel in their academics. #HardshipAcademy https://t.co/kuNWdmoWy5

You know you are in Kenya. When a whole county with puppet mcas, Mps, women representative, Senator and Governor has a #HardshipAcademy and children cannot enjoy their basic rights to education.

The Governor,and all leaders of this county should hanged or shot to death.#HardshipAcademy

While we discuss our leaders who "instead of 5 will deliver 9".I am so distraught and wondering how a kid using his/her lap to write is supposed to even master a mere handwriting. It took me almost 7 years writing on a good desk to have a good handwrighting.#HardshipAcademy
