Most traveled passenger on SGR train gets a prestigious award

 

 

Kenya Railways commemorated two year anniversary in two colourful ceremonies simultaneously held at the Mombasa and Nairobi termini on Friday.

During the fete, Mr Dimmy Kimoni was honoured as the most travelled passenger on the Madaraka Express passenger train at 221 trips.

Since its launch on May 31, 2017, by President Uhuru Kenyatta more than 3 million passengers have travelled between the Kenyan capital of Nairobi and the port city of Mombasa using the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) commuter train according to Kenya Railways.

The SGR train offers both passenger and cargo services and was recently listed among 13 best rail tours in the world.

Two pairs of passenger trains are in daily operation with average seat occupancy at above 90 percent.
