Things turned tragic in a bar after a good Samaritan tried to bring peace between two adults disagreeing in a club. 30 year old man from Belgut constituency in Kericho county has met his un-predicted fate after being stabbed by a reveller at a bar in Taplotin trading centre lading to his death on Monday night.

Edwin Kipng’etich, a bodaboda rider, was killed, when he attempted to stop a fight between the suspect and a female bar attendant.

The cause of the fight — between the bar attendant and the suspect — remains unclear.

Confirming the incident, Kabook Location chief Ken Too said Kipng’etich and his aggressor were thrown out of the nightspot by the facility’s security guard.

The scuffle between the two, however, continued, with the suspect brandishing a kitchen knife and stabbing Kipng’etich three times in the abdomen and thigh. The victim died on the spot, area chief said.

The deceased was taken to Sigowet Sub-County Hospital morgue.

The suspect on the other hand has been arrested and is being detained at Sosiot Police Station as investigations continue.

Local residents, who — of late — have been against operations of the bar where Kipng’etich died, took to the streets to demand its closure, saying many lives have been lost at the entertainment joint in similar circumstances.

The irate group barricaded Taplotin-Kabianga road, forcing police to hurl teargas at them in a bid to allow traffic to flow on the busy highway.

Normalcy resumed Tuesday afternoon.
