Munya hints at a mega political alliance aimed at unseating Kiraitu Murungi

Former Meru County Governor Peter Munya has hinted at a political pact with an aim of unseating Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

Speaking over the weekend, Munya, area Senator Mithika Linturi and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Mpuru Aburi hinted at ganging up against the governor.

Speaking during the burial of Mau Mau veteran Nathan M’ Imanyara in Machaku on Saturday, Munya laid bare the union with the two who, ironically, backed Murungi against him in 2017.

“The president showed us the way in ending confrontational politics. This is why Linturi, Mpuru and I have come together. We want to face the next election together. Is there a problem with that? Anyone against that cannot be helped,” he said.

Linturi urged area residents to rally behind the Party of National Unity (PNU) which is led by Munya, who doubles up as the Trade Cabinet Secretary, terming it the local party.

He is insinuating that Murungi has since dropped him after using him in 2017, hence his decision to opt for another political route.

“I urge you to support PNU so that we have something to talk about. I have refused the culture of being used and dumped. When we fought Munya, we thought it was a joke,” he said.

The union comes at a time when Murungi has as well lost the backing of politocian Florence Kajuju who was part of the Kikali (Kiraitu, Kajuju, Linturi) alliance that propelled him to power.
