Details of Raila’s high profiled meeting with DRC President Tshisekedi

The AU Infrastructure Representative Hon Raila Odinga has held a high profiled meeting with Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi.

Hon Raila Odinga left the country for official AU duty which his latest mission has taken him to DRC.

Hon Raila Odinga Held talks in Kinshasa with President Felix Tshisekedi over development projects in the Country sponsored by AU.

The construction of the Kinshasa- Brazzaville bridge that is part of the Tripoli- Cape Town Trans Africa Highway was among the key agenda of the high profiled meeting between the two leaders.

This landmark project consists of a 1 575km toll bridge over the Congo River. It will include a single railway track, a double-lane road, sidewalks, and a single border checkpoint at each end, connecting to existing road infrastructure in both countries.

The cost estimate in 2017 was $550 million (R7.7 billion).

The two leaders  also discussed the Inga Dam whose completion they termed as being critical for Africa.Grand Inga, the world’s largest hydropower scheme, is proposed for the Congo River in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The massive dam is part of a greater vision by the international economic community to develop a power grid across Africa that will spur the continent’s industrial economic development

Hon Raila Odinga and President Felix Tshisekedi have enjoyed a good relationship since his election.
