Turkana is one of the counties in Kenya where poverty levels are astronomical. It experiences drought throughout the year making it difficult for agriculture to thrive.
The Turkana people are by and large in pastoralism and are constantly on the move in search of pasture and water. Photos of Deputy President Dr William Ruto interactions with children in varying states of nudity and their parents have gone viral.
Dr Ruto is seen looking at the children as if moved by their plight. He then moves towards them and caresses them. One of the kids is pictured carrying a sibling on her back. It is clear that the children come from a background of abject poverty.
The DP was in the company of Turkana County Governor Josphat Nanok when he run into these beautiful souls. He was in the county to attend an interdenominational church service.

Kenyans on Twitter(KOT) are not a happy lot. They made a comparison of DP Ruto on how Kenya was in 1965 and how it is at the present. In 1965 Kenyans had hope in our leaders. Today we are languishing courtesy of some politicians. Here are some reactions from a few netizens:
1965 looked better and promising

Looters as politicians (2009) vs leaders as leaders (1965). The question is, why should citizens of Kenya incline towards looters than leaders? Degradation of social fabric due to belief in religion as per Tangatanga team than belief in spirituality as required by God.
