Police Corner Bomet Man After Slaughtering Wife

A man has been arrested after killing his wife and fleeing in fear of backlash.

The man identified as Gilbert King’etich Kirui, a 30-year-old man in Konoin, was nabbed by police shortly after committing the crime.

“The suspect had a domestic dispute with his 20-year-old wife Caroline Kirui and in the process, inflicted serious head and leg injuries using a panga,”  said Konoin Sub-County Police Commander Lusala Shikondi.

Neighbours narrated to police that Kirui had been involved in a bitter exchange with his wife Caroline Kirui, 20, when he became violent.

Neighbours say they were alerted when Kirui drew out his machete and began slicing his wife who screamed in pain.

By the time they arrived at the homestead, the neighbours found Caroline’s motionless body lying in a pool of blood.

She was to be later rushed to Litein AIC Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The hospital checked her into the mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
