When Winnie Odinga, was appointed as the Head of Media and Communication at the mighty K’Ogallo, fans thought this was the beginning of a new era for the most successful club in Kenya.

Winnie, the lastborn daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, was supposed to bring a Professional touch that would boost the club’s image in the eyes of potential sponsors.

But things have not been smooth for Nyar Kingi (the King’s Daughter), because the club didn’t even have a media department in the first place.

Gor Mahia’s official social media pages were being run by volunteers like Toni Anelka and Kevin ‘KGM’ Odhiambo who also doubles up as the club’s Assistant General Secretary.

In fact Kevin created the Facebook and Twitter handles long before he became an official of the club. The twitter handle was the most followed sports team in Kenya. It had been verified by twitter with iconic white tick.

But in a dramatic turn of events, Kevin deleted the Twitter handle and Facebook page on Wednesday after falling out with Winnie’s team.

It is believed the volunteers are not happy with a decision by the club. which told them to hand over the logins to the new team. They thought they were to work together with Winnie’s team to take the team to the next level.

Gor has been struggling with media issues and has failed to generate revenue from their massive following. Early this year, the club failed to maximise the announcement of Denis Oliech’s signature. They would have generated a lot of revenue from the capture of Kenya’s most famous footballer.

Currently, the club has created new social media handles, but fans believe the management should sit down with the volunteers to find a way of reviving the old handles.

Meanwhile, Gor will face Sofapaka today in a KPL top table clash in Kisumu, a win will take them a step closer to retaining the title for the 3rd time in a row and a guarantee of continental football.
