Officials and stakeholders of two facilities based in Makueni county; Kathekani Secondary School and Mtito Andei Hospital have written to Kenya Railways asking to be relocated due to noise disturbance from the trains that pass nearby.
Kathekani Secondary School board Chairman Mr. Michael Mung’ata said Kenya Railways had agreed to their request, saying the relocation will take place over the next one year.
This means the government will spend Ksh.467.9 million to move a secondary school and hospital from the vicinity of the Standard Gauge Railway in Kibwezi, with newly constructed school consuming Ksh.225.5 million while the hospital will cost Ksh.242.4 million.
Is the figure something making sense?
