‘Is this what you asked us to be jubilant about?’ government on the spot over shabby classrooms

The Jubilee government has been put on the spot over the existence of dilapidated classrooms, expected to harbor children that compete with those in high-end regions.

A Twitter post opened the Pandora’s box into the probe, asking whether such conditions are what citizens are expected to be so “jubilant” about.

This is as officers from Busia County Public Health department issued a three-month notice to a primary school, to bring down five of the school’s dilapidated mud-walled classrooms.

Deputy school head Robert Mugabe said efforts to secure financial support from politicians and well-wishers had borne no fruit.

“We are facing many challenges and the school is likely to be closed by July if we don’t rebuild the classrooms. Standard One to Five are mud-walled and are in poor condition… you cannot tell where the doors and the windows are,” said Mr Mugabe.

Kenyans online however, in their true element, had a few words to say.
