Tottenham Hotspur’s loss to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday has opened up the top 4 race wide open heading into the last week of the season. With a Champions League semi-final in midweek against Ajax, it does feel like Spurs have a lot in their hand which should count as an advantage for Unai Emery’s Arsenal.

The Gunners have a home match against Brighton in the league on Sunday and should they win, they will put themselves into a very strong position before they face Burnley next week. Currently, on 66 points, Arsenal are 4 points behind their North London rivals Spurs who are third on the log.

Arsenal can only blame themselves should they miss out on a top 4 spot this season. After battling so hard to remain in contention throughout the season, Unai Emery’s men blew their chances in one week that saw them lose 3 matches in a row. It all started with a dismal home loss to Crystal Palace then an embarrassing 3-1 loss to Wolves. Arsenal would then lose 3-0 to Everton, a loss which took the top 4 race out of their own hands.

Had they won at least one of those matches, things would be a bit different for the Gunners heading into the final 2 games of the season. However, luck has given them one last chance which they need to maximize on. There is simply no room for error from them though and Brighton is the perfect chance for Arsenal to prove that they are serious about their top 4 credentials.
