Kenya’s opposition camp led by Raila Odinga has been dealt a major blow after ‘daughters of Raila’ lobby group Leader Hon Irene Renee Nyakerario was on Tuesday blocked from being sworn in as the ODM party nominated MCA in the Nyamira County Assembly.
Hired goons allegedly linked to governor John Nyagarama blocked her by creating a ring at the county assembly building thus blocking her entry.
Nyamira County Assembly speaker Moffat Teya is said to have rejected official papers that were presented by Hon Nyakerario’s lawyers on account that they were copies and not originals.
However, local pundits termed the move as a political game being played by governor Nyagarama who is keen on blocking Renee from assuming her rightful role. The pundits linked the hired goons to governor Nyagarama’s heir apparent, his daughter Emily, a powerful towering giant in the county.
It is rumoured that she is eyeing the Woman Rep position since her father will exit politics in 2022 after serving the mandatory two terms.
Emily is scared that she cannot beat Renee on the ground game besides Renee is young and can open afford a smile while Emily is a heavy machine motherly figure who cannot do that.
”Emily is scared of Renee owing to her social nature and people skills”-a local commentator said.
Renee also is said to be very close to Mama Ida, Hon Gladys Wanga, Hon Agnes Zania among other top ODM leaders who are likely to be on her side and even influence her to get a ticket in case they both emerge strong.
Besides, Renee hails from Bogichora clan the biggest in West Mugirango with maternal roots in North Mugirango the second biggest voting block after Kitutu Masaba.
It is obvious, once Renee hits the ground Emily cannot match her, she got no numbers and that is why she is shitting on herself long before the game even starts. Governor Nyagarama hails from Bonyamatuta clan, the 3rd populous in West Mugirango but Emily is married in Nyaribari, Kisii county with maternal roots in Kisii also making her a stranger in Nyamira county.
It is suspected that governor Nyagarama is dangling the Chief Officer position to Renee so that she can keep off politics so that Emily can retain her competitive edge come 2022.
